Personal Statement:
It is my goal to help students remain encouraged and motivated by finding a balance between the fun (songs, licks, improvisation, etc.) and the work (scales, finger exercises, theory, etc.) in their practise assignments. And as every student is an individual — each with his/her own unique musical tastes, ambitions, and natural ability — I approach each student a little differently by “playing to their strengths.” At the same time, however, potential weaknesses aren’t overlooked as I see to it that all students understand the importance of good technique and structure in their practise routines. It’s important to me that I help each student set a solid musical foundation in place — one that will last a lifetime! Lastly, I enjoy opening all students up to various genres and styles of playing to spark their own creativity and broaden their musical horizons.
